What is Sound Beginnings?
KEYBOARD (4-6 year olds with parent participation)
If your child can sing in tune and keep a steady beat, he or she is ready for instrumental instruction. Our curriculum teaches aural skills are taught along with technical skills and students learn to play by ear before music notation is introduced. Children and their parents learn together in a group of up to six families.
Classes begin in September only!
NEWS FLASH!!!! Because of the popularity of this program, we are starting a new class the week of January 27th! This class will run for approximately 20 weeks, ending in June. Call us at 646-3096 or email the director at paulap@musicmakersacademy.com if you are interested in this new class!
Highlights include:
Weekly group lessons that are taught in a fun and playful manner.
The Music Class style song and movement activities at a more sophisticated level.
Learn to play many familiar songs on the keyboard.
Recitals featuring student solos, parent-child duets, and child-child duets and ensembles.
Beginning harmony, transposition and improvisation.
CD that guides you through each home practice session. Students are expected to practice at home at least three times per week.
Promote self esteem and self discipline.
Develop many musical skills that are easily transferred to other instruments.
Each class is 45 minutes.
Keyboard class is a one school-year curriculum. (Three sequential 10-week sessions.)
Students need an electronic keyboard or piano to practice on at home.

When does the next session start?
We are starting a new class the week of January 27th! Classes fill up very quickly, as we have a 6 parent/child pair limit per class.

We are now registering for our 2007-2008 Sound Beginnings class. Refunds are allowed until September 1, 2007, so if you want to secure a spot please do so with peace of mind in case you later decide another MusicMakers program is better suited for you.
